Over the past decade, Simon has helped several news organizations overhaul their operations, train their staff in the implementation of integrated, platform-neutral production process, and build audiences as a result.
Between 2008 and 2011, Simon was a key member of the team that relaunched the PBS NewsHour. First as a consultant, then as Associate Executive Producer of the NewsHour, and finally as President/CEO of the company, Simon helped create an integrated digital newsroom, and oversaw the training of staff in new production workflows.
Simon passionately believes that at a time when new technology permits news operations to cover the serious global news stories of our time at a fraction of the cost previously associated with international coverage, broadcasters have an opportunity and an obligation to inform their audiences with substantive daily coverage.
Simon explains more in this August 2010 interview, produced in 3-parts for TVNewser.com
