For more than 20 years, Simon has reported many of the most important global news stories for many of the world’s leading news networks.
In the United States, he’s been a familiar face on the PBS NewsHour, working as a Special Correspondent for the program since 1992. He’s reported events for America’s leading nightly news analysis program from dozens of datelines, including Russia, Iraq, India, Pakistan, Brazil, Turkey, Syria, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea and his native Great Britain. In Asia, Simon can be seen daily on Channel News Asia, the region’s leading 24-hour English news channel. As the network’s US Bureau Chief, Simon oversees the channel’s coverage from across the United States, and covers the day’s major stories. He also anchors special coverage of events including the US Presidential Election, and has been a fixture of Channel News Asia’s programming since 1999.
Simon provided dramatic, live coverage of the events of September 11th 2001 for South African Broadcasting, the continent’s leading broadcaster. Simon began contributing to SABC TV and Radio News shortly after the country’s political transition to democracy, and he’s reported events for South African audiences from all over the world.
Simon’s work as a Contributing Correspondent for the Fox News Channel also took him all over the world for America’s most-watched 24-hour cable news channel. He’s reported for Fox from a variety of datelines including Russia, Iraq, Pakistan, Jordan, Cuba and the UK. In 2005, he covered the 7th July Al Qaeda attacks on London for Fox, and anchored a special edition of the morning newscast “Fox and Friends”.
You can also see Simon regularly on the English service of France 24. His reports and news analysis from Washington DC have included coverage of the economic challenges facing the Obama administration as it attempts to deal with the nation’s rising unemployment, and record budget deficit.
Simon also contributes regularly to the global programming of VOA News. He’s reported for VOA from Sudan, Venezuela, Turkey, Russia, France and Britain.
